Day 549: A Good Day

1 year, 6 months, and 3 days after first submitting my resume, I have been offered a job at Microsoft. A pretty darn good job, too, I might add. Of course, I didn't exactly sit on my hands during that time. I was consulting and took a permanent position during this period. I also went through 4 full interview loops on campus for full-time positions, 1 full loop for a contract position, and who knows how many phone screens.

For those who followed my exploits last year, you heard me say time and time again that "it's about finding the right fit" or "I'm not just looking for a job - I want the right job." Well, that's what I found. It took a bit longer than I anticipated, but it was worth the wait.

I SO hear you!! You know when it feels right. I'm having a hard time with how completely isolated contractors are from the blue-badgers. Yesterday I was told not to go to "any more meetings." Seems contractors aren't allowed... Well, if I'm not regarded as part of the team, how can I contribute my best work to the team? My work depends on brainstorming and teamwork!

So I know this is random as all heck, but I am an MBA Sutdent graudating in May, a former attorney, and big huge dork so I was considering applying for a job in the compliance department at Microsoft.

I was thinking, given the corporate culture at the house that Gates built, I would send in a really offbeat cover letter with my resume.

Do you have any suggestions?
